Dear God, this was more trouble than I thought it would be. Here's the finished version of these lines: [link]
First of all, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who commented on my last post/desperate cry for help. I love it when artists come together to help one another. It's the best feeling ever.
Well, this doesn't quite feel completely finished, to be honest. I think it's because the background is so blank. But for the life of me, I couldn't do anything to it that I liked, so I let it be instead of ruining the entire thing before critique tomorrow. Hooray.
Anyway, this is based on the Russian Snow Maiden folktale. I read several versions of it when researching, but I like the one where the old couple make a snow girl that comes to life and becomes their daughter. She melts away whenever the weather gets warm, and returns in winter with the first snow, etc. That's the gist of the narrative, basically, so that's what's depicted in the folds of the head scarf.
I'm over-all pretty pleased with this, especially the face. Again, thank you so much for all the suggestions and pointers, guys! I really appreciate it. I hope you like it!

This is beautiful-- I really dig this! It's really come a long way from your WIP. I like the comp, and the really fine detail in her headdress and earrings. I think some of the blue light on the right side of her face could be smoothed out a bit-- I don't think the strands of hair would create such large shadows against her cheek-- but this isn't a big problem. You did a great job!
Thank you! Yeah, the shadows on her face still need a bit of work, but at the time I was finished with it, I didn't care anymore. I'm glad you like it!
Love how you put that scene in her hood..
